Even though snoring is the topic of many jokes it can have serious consequences. Snoring affects various ages and sizes and this can take its toll on personal relationships and health.
Snoring can cause a reduction in oxygen, this can consequently result in an increase in blood pressure and heart rate, normally followed by an increase in blood pressure and heart rate. Therefore, regular snoring needs investigating sooner rather than later.
It can sometimes be reduced by methods/ treatments such as: lying on your side, losing weight, mandibular devices, treatments for allergies, or treatment obtained for restless leg syndrome prescribed by your GP, or more complex treatments via APAP or CPAP. A sleep study (polysomnography) is the initial and most accurate way of diagnosing a sleep disorder, this is usually carried out in the comfort of your own home.
