Snoring

Woman trying to sleep through husband’s snoring

Even though snoring is the topic of many jokes it can have serious consequences. Snoring affects various ages and sizes and this can take it's toll on personal relationships and health.

Snoring can cause a reduction in oxygen which may consequently result in an increase in heart rate and blood pressure. Frequent snoring needs investigating sooner rather than later to prevent long term health complications.

Snoring may be reduced by methods / treatments such as - lying on your side, losing weight, wearing a mandibular device while sleeping, treating any allergies that affect the nasal passages / airway. However, if your snoring is combined with a sleep related breathing disorder such as Sleep Apnoea the most effective treatment may be via a prescribed CPAP / APAP device which keeps the airway open allowing air to move freely to and from the lungs.
